A Short Story
The old man sat on the same bench every evening as the sun dipped toward the horizon .

In his hands was a camera , its casing worn smooth by years of use .
He wasn't looking for the fast, flashy moments that most people chased .
He was waiting for the truth .
He spent years photographing a single oak tree on the edge of a growing city .
In the beginning , people laughed .
"It’s just a tree ,
" they’d say, rushing past to capture the new glass skyscrapers or the flickering neon lights of the shops .
They wanted the "now."
They wanted the instant success .
But he knew that time will tell .
He photographed the tree when the winter ice turned its branches into crystal.
He captured it when the spring buds fought through the frost, a silent victory of life over cold.
He saw the couples who carved hearts into its bark—some hearts faded, while others grew wider and deeper as the tree expanded.
Decades passed.
The neon signs burned out. The glass buildings were remodeled or replaced.
But the tree remained,
its roots anchored deep in the earth, its crown reaching for the sky.
One day, a young artist stopped by his bench.
"How do you know when to take the shot?
" she asked.
The old man smiled, the warm light of the setting sun reflecting in his eyes.
"You don't choose the moment," he whispered .
"You honor the time it took to get there.
Success isn't the flash of the bulb
it’s the strength of the roots.
Give it enough time and the world will show you what’s real ."
